The 4340 alloy steel round rod has been cold finished, has an unpolished (mill) surface, meets SAE Aerospace Material Specifications AMS 6415 standards, and has a standard tolerance. The 4340 alloy steel grade contains nickel in addition to chromium and molybdenum for better toughness than 4140. This material can be heat treated for higher hardness.
